nexLED™
LED Lamps are designed to replace the most common types of 12-volt DC incandescent and halogen bulbs in RVs and Boats:
G4 Halogen series
15mm Bayonet series
921 Wedge series
LightBlaster bulb replacements are LED lamps that plug directly into the most common 12-volt DC incandescent bulb fixtures. You do not have to replace the fixture, it is the same as before.
LightBlaster bulb replacements feature solid state construction designed to last as long as the LEDs, circuitry to allow operation in the variety of electrical environments and power conditions found in RVs and Boats, and solid copper heat sinks to protect the LEDs and ensure their extended lifetime of 11 years.
These LED products are correctly called "lamps" and not "bulbs" because there is no need for a protective glass bulb to cover and protect the filament, but you can call them LED Bulbs is you wish.
They feature solid state construction designed to last as long as the LEDs, circuitry to allow operation in the variety of electrical environments and power sources found in RVs and Boats, and heat sinks to protect the LEDs and ensure their extended lifetime of 11 years of continuous usage.

LED Replacements for G4 Halogen Bulbs
Halogen lighting is used extensively in some of the newer high-end motorcoaches and some trailers. The fixture most commonly used is the "puck" fixture, named for its similar shape to that of a hockey puck. The fixture is recessed into the ceiling or underside of the cabinetry over working surfaces.
The halogen bulb used in a puck fixture is typically a 12-volt 10-watt bulb with a 4 mm spacing on the bi-pin mounting. It slides at a slight angle to horizontal into a G4 ceramic socket surrounded by a faceted mirror reflector.

The JC12v10w halogen bulb is used in a
puck-shaped task-light fixture that fits into the ceiling or
the underside of cabinets to illuminate counters and desktops.
It may also be used in other halogen fixtures in both a
horizontal and a vertical orientation. Click on the image for
bulb specifications.
|
Most
puck fixtures are rated for 12v-10W bulbs. That means the
fixture becomes a significant fire danger if operated with a larger
wattage bulb. You have to remove the fixture to see this rating on
the backside of the fixture.
However, in parts stores you can purchase 15w,
20w, and even up to 50w bulbs that look identical, and some people
replace their halogen bulbs with the larger wattage bulb. Using a
higher wattage halogen bulb can significantly increase the danger of
damage and fire. Leaving the front cover or glass lens off the
fixture in hopes that the increased ventilation will compensate is
not recommended. The danger is still there.
DO NOT
EXCEED the rated wattage of your halogen fixture. Use more
LEDs if you want more light . . .

This lamp is a great replacement in most
puck fixture applications, especially where there is danger
from the heat produced by the halogen bulbs. However, some
brands of fixture have placed the socket very close to the

15mm Bayonet Series Bulbs
If your incandescent bulb looks like one of
those below, you have a bulb with a 15 millimeter diameter metal
base. There will be two small "ears" on opposite sides of the can
near the bottom of the bulb that are used to latch into the bayonet
socket of the light fixture. On the bottom will be one or
two electrical contact points.
LightBlasters does not support the B9 base at
this time.

nexLED™ Replacements for Wedge Bulbs With a 9.5x2.1mm Base
If your incandescent bulbs look like
the bulb below, you have bulbs with the Wedge base. Wedge bulbs were developed as a
cost-reduced solution for interior lighting applications.
Typical bulb numbers are 906, 912, and 921.
These are commonly used in some decorative scones and chandiler
lighting and in ceiling fixtures and basement and patio lights. They
are also found in stove hood lighting.
|
The W9-series 9.5 mm wedge-base miniature
incandescent bulb numbers are 922, 921, 912, 906 and 194. The
base is all glass, nominally measuring 9.5mm by 2.1mm. The
bulb measures 15mm in diameter and is nominally 1.5 inches
long.
NOTE: we have found that some socket
manufacturers have built to the lower limit of the 9.5 x 2.1mm
standard. If your LightBlasters replacement does not fit the
socket, file down the edge of the connection paddle and/or
shave down the solder on the contacts to fit the socket
without undue force. |
There is also
a series of sub-miniature wedge bulbs that are only 10mm in diameter
and an inch long. While the W9 LED lamps might fit their socket, the
lamp may be too large to fit the lighting fixture. LightBlasters
does not yet make a replacement for the sub-miniature wedge bulb. |

W9.RV2N-H : a CR90 warm white
nexLED™ HyBright.3 LED lamp
specifically designed for use wedge bulb fixtures found in the
ceilings and over the counters of many motor coaches and other
RVs. These LEDs are the latest development in the HyBright
technology and provide good excellent color rendering at 3800K
color temperature.
6 HyBright.3 LED
chips on a flat board 18 LEDs, WW (3800K) 9.5mm base for W9 socket 120 lumens wide-angle perpendicular
to the board 12.5 volts nominal 11
to 18 volt operating range Power-limiting circuit protects LEDs 0.14 amps nominal 1.75 watts 100,000 hour lifetime
This
lamp replaces the typical 906 or 912 bulb found in many
fixtures in motorcoaches and trailers. The lamp's 120 lumens
is about the same as seen in the ceiling fixtures since
none of its luminosity is lost to the reflector.
This lamp is a great replacement in most
ceiling fixture applications. The CR90 color rendering of the LEDs is
in the warm range, and applications requiring accurate color
rendering, such as oil painting are well served.

*running at 12.5 volts, typical in off-grid rig
The double-stick
tape on the back of the LightSticks, and the optional mounting
plate, allows the W9.nZL3 series to be arranged in
a variety of ways. The sticks can be mounted to the back of
the light fixture. They can be arranged side-by-side on the
mounting plate to provide a panel of light, or the
plate can be cut to fit into a chandelier, facing either
direction.
The W9.6ZL3 is suitable
as a replacement for the two or three
921 incandescent bulb. If even more light is needed, the
W9.5ZL3 can be expanded
using a ZLX.nZL3: a
ZLX Extender and
additional ZL3
LightSticks.
The W9.4ZL3 is a good
replacement for a single 921 bulb where high intensity light
is needed. The medium intensity W9.3ZL3 can replace 921 or 912
in ceiling, patio, or task fixtures.
The W9.2ZL3 is a good replacement
for the 912 in general lighting applications, and the W9.ZL3 works very well as a
night-light or map-light.
