LED LightStrips finds use as indirect lighting, linear lighting, and enhancement of -- or replacements for -- fluorescent bulbs and fixtures.

zipLED™ LightSticks (and LightDots) offer the means to connect small boards with three (or one) HyBright-3 LED chips on a self-regulated 1.5 (or 0.5) inch board providing 60 (or 20) lumens of light into a variety of 12-volt sockets.

The 12-inch
nexLED™ LightStrips  use HyBright-3 LED chips on one- to four-inch spacing with three LED emitters per chip to provide up to 240 lumens per foot

The TapeLight series use HyBright-1 LED chips on a flexible, peel-and-stick tape with 1.7 cm spacing with one LED emitter per chip to provide 120 lumens per foot in a variety of colors

All LED products offered are Made-In-USA by LightBlasters™ in Mesa, AZ using HyBright.3 LED chips. They feature solid state construction designed to last as long as the LEDs, circuitry to allow operation in the variety of electrical environments and power sources found in RVs and Boats, and solid copper heat sinks to protect the LEDs and ensure their extended lifetime of 11 years.

NOTE: nexLED™ technology is USA Patent Pending
NOTE: zipLED™ connectivity is USA Patent Pending
NOTE: One HyBright.3 LED chip emits 15 to 20 lumens of visible light at 12 to 12.8 volts

zipLED LightSticks, LightDots,
and ZLX Connectivity

The zipLED connectivity solution offers a most versatile method for building the configurations of LEDs needed to provide a solution to most any lighting problem.

The primary building blocks are the zipLED Bases, LightSticks, LightDots, and the ZLX-Expansion PowerStrip. The design of the zipLED family is copyrighted and patent pending 2008 by LightBlasters/Neutek-USA.

The key to zipLED connectivity are the ZLX power distribution units , arrangements of SIP (Single InLine Package) terminal blocks that can fit onto different lighting bases or be used stand-alone. The 24 awg solid wire from the LightStick or LightDot boards fits into the SIP sockets and is locked into place by the inner spines of the socket. The layout for the ZLX array is as follows:
    -  +
-  +  -  +
+  -  +  -
    +  -
and provides the capacity to connect six zipLED devices into the same distribution unit. Note that any two adjacent SIP sockets will be opposite polarity. It is necessary to test the orientation of the connector in the circuit to determine the proper wiring pattern for the LightSticks or LightDots.

zipLED LightSticks are 0.5 by 1.5 inch boards containing three HyBright.3 LED chips. Power and ground are provided through a dual conductor pigtail of 24 awg solid wire. An onboard circuit provides voltage protection. Double-stick tape on the back-side can be used to mount the LightStick however needed in the application. Each LightStick produces 15 to 20 lumens of natural white light using 0.06 amps at 12 to 12.8 volts.

The zipLED LightDots are 0.5 inch square boards containing a single HyBright.3 LED chip. Power and ground are provided through a dual conductor pigtail of 24 awg solid wire. An onboard circuit provides voltage protection. Double-stick tape on the back-side can be used to mount the LightDot however needed in the application. A LightDot produces 5 to 7 lumens of natural white light using 0.06 amps at 12 to 12.8 volts.

zipLEDs are sold as packaged Bulb Replacements in Aisle 1 and fLEDescent kits in Aisle 2. They are also sold in bulk below.

ZL.Mount: for some lighting applications, it is useful to mount the zipLED LightSticks or LightDots onto a metal plate. 10 mil Aluminum flashing is a very good material that offers full support and can be cut with kitchen shears and bent by hand.

These mounts can be used to construct lighting solutions for chandeliers and patio lights, as well as other applications.

You can purchase this at your neighborhood hardware store or purchase small quantities here. Prudent RVer offers three small sizes of metal that can then be cut to size. A hole is punched in the middle of each sheet to allow mounting the LightSticks on the side opposite from the connector base.

NOTE: the cut aluminum can be sharp around the edges and corners. Be careful.

LED LightStrips as
Linear Lighting & Replacements for Fluorescents

In some cases the use of the LightBlasters LightStrip products make more sense as a fluorescent replacement and for other forms of linear lighting. For example, indirect lighting behind a cornice or beneath a cabinet can be handled with LightStrips, especially where a run of several feet is required.

However, LightStrips do not have built-in voltage protection. It is important to connect them to a regulated power supply or to connect the 12-volt power through a stand-alone voltage regulator. Products to provide this protection are shown at the bottom.

When using a LightStrip inside a fluorescent fixture, it is necessary to connect the LED strip directly to the +12-volt and ground lines. If they are connected to the output of the ballast, the LEDs will very quickly be destroyed.

LightStrips can be wired in series by soldering the pigtail of one strip to the end of the next. The proper polarity must be maintained, and the solder holes are coded as a circle and a square to facilitate maintaining polarity. Conservatively, up to 3 amps can be carried by the pigtail wires without loss of voltage, providing the capacity to series connect 150 HyBright.3 chips.

PS1.2A12V Regulated Power Supply: The PS1.2A12V power supply accessory provides 1.5 watts of regulated 12-volt power for LightBlasters' LightStrips and other LED appliances. It converts 120vac to 12vdc, providing up to 1.2 amps. It plugs into standard 15-amp AC wall receptacle with a 6 foot pigtail providing the ground and +12v.

The key issue is voltage regulation. certain LED devices, like the LightStrips, can be damaged by the voltage variations found in some RVs. Using a regulated supply protects them from damage.

This power supply can also be used in a residential home to service up to LED clusters up to 15 watts.
