VR12-3A Inline Voltage
Regulator: This in-line 12-volt, 3amp
regulator keeps the 12-volt line voltage
to LED appliances in an operating range
that will not damage the LEDs, even while
working with resistive and electronic
dimmers. It comes with built-in polarity,
thermal, and short circuit protection. It
has double-stick adhesive tape on the
back for mounting on a heat-sink
surface.
This device acts as a voltage clamp,
limiting the output to a maximum of 12.1
volts. If the input voltage falls below
12, the output will follow it
down. If the input voltage goes
above 12, the device will limit the
output to 12 volts and waste the excess
voltage as heat. Therefore, the
VR12-3A needs a good heat sink if you use
it in higher voltage
configurations. With
a sufficient heat sink, the device
can operate with an input voltage up to
28 volts DC.

SENSA On/Off/Dimmer
Control: The SENSA power controls allow
an LED circuit to be turned On or Off
or to be controlled by a PWM signal
that allows for dimming the LED
lights.
Control of the SENSA is accomplished
through a capacitive proximity
sensor. This sensor is on the case
of the switch or can optionally be
located on an antenna at some remote
location from the power control.
The SENSA control handles up to 120
watts of power. The Pulse Width
Modulation circuit operates between
100% and 20% utilization at a 1 KHz
clock rate.
Note that the PWM circuit may not
work well with certain kinds of
power regulation circuits that attempt
to smooth variations in the DC
voltage.

PS1, 25W to 150W Power
Supplies: The PS1 series of industrial
regulated 12-volt power supplies are
designed to be connected directly to
the 120VAC wiring behind the wall.
Each acts as a power center for a
cluster of 12-volt appliances. They are
recommended if you want to install LED
lighting in domestic housing.
The PS1-xx power supplies are all UL
approved.
Care should be taken to install
appropriate 12-volt wiring between the
power supply and the 12-volt
appliances. Speaker wire is often
sufficient, but watch the AWG gauge of
the wire you are using.
The higher the AWG gauge number of the
wire, the smaller it is and the fewer
amps it can carry without overheating.
The table below shows the output of
each power supply and the maximum AWG
gauge number wire to use if ALL the
current is put through that wire, and
assuming that wire run is less than 10
feet. Go to a smaller gauge number when
in doubt just to be sure.
The table also shows the physical
sizes of the power supplies.
